Erie History and Events

The Erie area abounds in exciting history, from the War of 1812 to a tremendous Maritime past, events and locations from the Civil War,  from manufacturing and entertainment, to personal achievements and ethnic pride. Also, Waldameer Park, one of the 10 oldest amusements parks in the USA, is open daily and requires no admission fee to enter the park.

Some great historical references can be found on the websites of the Erie Maritime Museum, the Historical Society of Erie County and the Erie County Library. For information on Presque Isle or Erie in general, you can check out the websites of the Tom Ridge Environmental Center, the Presque Isle Partnership,  Visit Erie, which now has a kiosk at TREC, and goErie. There is so much to learn, so much to do, and so much to see, including our beautiful Presque Isle Lighthouse.
